PROT417.11_JPG-724x1024This Festival has been a long tradition and is a part of a series of activities in commemorating the 65th Aniversary of Indonesia’s Independence.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Los Angeles is cooperating with various Indonesian Community in Southern California to organize this Festival event.

The program of celebration is designed to display the richness and diversity of Indonesia’s many forms of traditional and modern cultures such as:

Cultural Performances
Experience the sight and sounds of the Indonesian culture: traditional dances and arts, innovative crafts, and combinations of both worlds from different islands of Indonesia.

Food Bazaar
At the food bazaar, enjoy the savory taste of different Indonesian cuisines.

Cultural Display and Exhibition
Discover the beauty of the workmanship of many Indonesian local artists spanning from different cultures and backgounds.

Batik Day. Be a part of history!
On the day of the celebration, the Indonesian community of Los Angeles will also try a historic feat by calling thousands of Indonesians and non-Indonesians to wear Batik, a national attire, as well as other traditional dresses. Batik artists will also entertain the audience in making traditional batik paintings and dying.

The Indonesian Community in Los Angeles
Southern California is home to the largest Indonesian community in the United States. The Indonesian community has been a part of the cultural melting pot since the 1960s. They come from a land with rich culture and traditions, for Indonesia is home to many ethnic groups and beliefs.
